Cindy Geisler was born and raised just outside Boston, Massachusetts. In 1972, she earned a B.S. degree in Social Welfare at Florida State University. Upon moving to Fort Lauderdale, Cindy began studying Metaphysics, attending services and classes at the Fort Lauderdale Church of Religious Science (Wilton Manors). During those years, Cindy shared the classroom with Frankie Timmers and David Owen Ritz, both became Religious Science ministers. Rev. David served in Sarasota at the Center for Positive Living and Rev. Frankie is still active in Morristown, New Jersey.
Cindy also attended services and classes at the Boca Raton Church of Religious Science, with Rev. Barbara Lunde, whose parents, Norman and Dorothy Lunde, helped pioneer and grow the Religious Science movement in Florida. Rev. Barbara officiate the marriage of Cindy and her husband, Mark, in 1991; she also christened their two children, Serena and Ivanna.
In 2003, after thirty years working for Covenant House, Broward County’s Social Services, Library System, and School System, Cindy and Mark relocated to Sarasota. They now have two grandchildren, a six-year-old grandson and a four-year old granddaughter. Cindy retired from Sarasota school system as a Teacher’s Aide in 2012.
Today, she enjoys her part-time work as a cashier at Publix. In 2017, Cindy began classes at CSLCC with Rev. Theresa, becoming a Licensed Practitioner in 2020. Now almost fully retired, Cindy looks forward to her future and her new “Creative Pursuits,” self-improvement, expansion, and service to people in our spiritual community, focusing on their own spiritual evolution.
